Fighting Mr. Negative From Within!

Fighting Mr. Negative From Within!

Have you ever feel like you hate yourself and no matter what you do it just doesn’t feel or seem right? Like you’ve messed up every possible task that was performed and everyone is just dying to chastise you? Don’t worry. This feeling is not unusual. At some point in our life, we’re bound to feel this way.

This is because we’re so afraid of what people think of us that we force ourselves to be perfect all the time. Well, humans tend to be judgmental. That’s the norm of today’s society. So what can we do to combat these insecurities within us?

  1. Embracing our Flaws

The one essential thing that we have to remember is that no human being in this world is perfect. Not even one. Each of us is born unique with distinct qualities. Our strengths and weaknesses differ from one another. Don’t use your weakness as an excuse to call yourself a failure. Everyone has them. It’s impossible to be good at everything because we’re not God. Just because we have weaknesses, doesn’t mean that we are weak. Remember that we also have our own set of strengths and they complement our weaknesses. Furthermore, weaknesses can be improved with enough practice. Just give it some time.

  1. Don’t be Afraid to Make Mistake

It’s undeniable that all of us are afraid to make mistakes. The aftereffect of them is what scares us the most. Public’s perception, the judging, as well as the fear of being alienated by the people we care about. That’s why we want everything that we do to be extremely perfect. The truth is that mistake is unavoidable. As mentioned before, no humans are perfect, thus mistake is not uncommon. It is from a mistake that we learn to be a better person and mistake can also help us to know what we should or shouldn’t do in the future. Of course, certain people will judge and criticize us for our mistake but bear in mind that these particular group of people is not exactly error-free either. So whenever you feel like you’ve messed up big time, just think of it as a growing process. Learn from that mistake and be sure not to beat yourself down too hard.

  1. Ignore Hate Comments but Accept Building Criticisms

No matter what we do, other people can always find something to say about it. When we’re too nice, they’ll call us weak. What more to say if we are to show our bad side. There is the type of people who’ll say it to our face upfront and then there is the type who would say it behind our backs. For sure, it’s painful to hear harsh words being thrown at us, but we should never let it get the best of us. We should train ourselves to stay calm when hearing those things. Comments which downgrade us should just be ignored. However, comments which contain the valuable lesson, regard it as a building criticism, something that can help us to be a better person every day.

  1. Surround Yourself with People who Lift You Up

You should be around people who sincerely care about you, who can make you feel better when you’re going through a rough patch. Not with people who drowns your energy and emotions. However, at times, there are also unavoidable situations where you have to be around this type of people. All you can do is brace yourself for them. The best thing to do is to tell them personally that you are hurt by the way they’re treating you. Talk it out nicely but if there are still no changes in the way they’re treating you then you should learn to not let it get to you. Turn to the people you can trust and share your feelings with them. Don’t keep it bottled up because one day it’ll blow up and affect you negatively.
